Change Requests

Change Requests

Whenever you make a change to an existing Service Port, Peering Service or VLL — such as editing its configuration, migrating it, or converting it to LACP — a Change Request is created to track the change through to completion. Change Requests appear on the relevant Service's detail page under Pending Changes and Completed Changes.

Automation Status

Each Service's detail page shows an Automation Status badge indicating how changes to that Service are processed:

  • Manual — changes are provisioned by an engineer during business hours.
  • With Approval — changes are prepared automatically but require an engineer's approval before being applied.
  • Automatic — changes are applied automatically, with no manual intervention.

Automation Status

The badge will also let you know if changes are temporarily unavailable — for example, if a network device is in maintenance mode, or the Service already has a change in progress.

Pending Changes

Change Requests that haven't finished processing are listed under Pending Changes, along with their status:

Status Meaning
Pending Approval Received and waiting to be processed.
Deploying Configuration Being applied to our network automatically.
Waiting Waiting on a dependency, such as another pending change.
Manual Intervention Required Automation ran into an issue and requires a staff member to step in.
Denied The change was reviewed and rejected.

Pending Changes

Cancelling a Change Request

While a Change Request is still Pending Approval or Waiting, you can cancel it yourself:

  1. Navigate to the Service's detail page and locate the Change Request under Pending Changes.
  2. Click Cancel.

Once a Change Request has started deploying, it can no longer be cancelled.

Completed Changes

Finished Change Requests — successful, denied, cancelled or rolled back — are listed under Completed Changes.

Completed Changes

Rolling Back a Change Request

The most recent successful Change Request on a Service can sometimes be rolled back, reverting the Service to its previous configuration:

  1. Navigate to the Service's detail page and locate the change under Completed Changes.
  2. Click Rollback Change Request.
  3. Confirm the rollback.

This creates a new Change Request that reverses the original change. Rollback isn't available for every change — for example, it's disabled while the Service or a dependent Service has a change already in progress.
